Spring In the Cuchara Valley
What a great time of year. The last of the snows are falling on southern Colorado's Cuchara Valley. The great thing about the snow this time of year is that now since the ground is no longer frozen the snow melts usually the next day. The nights are much warmer as well. We have been experiencing daily highs pushing 70 degrees and the fields are turning green again.
I haven't seen my first bear yet, but I'm sure it won't be long now. The snow that does fall this time of year is very important. Plenty of spring snowfall ensures a lower fire hazard this summer and plenty of berries for our wildlife to live off of. There have been a couple of fires already this spring up around Pueblo that have caused considerable damage. So we are grateful for any snow coming our way in the spring.
I am having a hard time holding back from taking spring photos. Southern Colorado is so beautiful in the late spring and summer that words (at least my words) are completely inadequate to describe it. I want to go out today and start taking photos, but I know if I do I'll just have to go out again in a couple of weeks when everything is spectacular!!!
I'll post a few of my new photos in a few weeks for you all to look at.
