In short, it's people just like you and me. According to the National Association of Realtors 2006 was a record year for vacation home sales. There were over $1.7 million second homes sold in the U.S. That doesn't include vacant land or investment property. Thats a 4.6% increase in the number of vacation home sales over 2005. Who's Buying Them? According to N.A.R. the buyers average age is 40 to late 50's. They're coming from farther away too. The study also revealed that over half of all vacation home buyers lived more than 100 miles away and 32% of the buyers lived more than 500 miles from their vacation home. Over 29% of all vacation home buyers bought homes in rural areas like southern Colorado!
